Wilbert Wachtendorf was born in Moulton, Texas but has called Hewitt home since 1978. He and his wife Donna have been married for 45 years, they have two sons, Jeff and Joshua and two grandchildren. Before he attended Beaufort Technical College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associates Degree in Public Service/Criminal Justice, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps.
He served six years on the force at the Beaufort South Carolina Police Department, then returned to Texas. He worked as a route driver for the Rainbo Baking Company. Then came to work for the Hewitt Police Department where he retired in 2005 after serving over 26 years. He currently works part time as a security guard for a local Waco bank.
While living in Hewitt, he has been a member of the Hewitt VFW Post 6008, the Masonic Lodge, Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, Karem Shrine where he’s a volunteer driver. He was elected in May of 2006 as a City Council member. In that time he has served three years as Mayor and two years as Mayor Pro-Tem. He considers his biggest accomplishment to be the fact that he has been a part of making Hewitt a better place to live since being elected to the City Council.
