Mayor Travis Bailey has lived in Hewitt since 1983 with his wife Nancy. He has three sons and two grandchildren. Bailey is a law enforcement veteran of 35 years and served 16 years as elected constable for McLennan County Precinct 1. He appreciates the safe environment that Hewitt residents enjoy, and with the new City Hall building, the city is transforming daily. He says these new and positive projects, along with great schools and plenty of restaurants, has helped Hewitt become a great city. Bailey not only helps to bring about change while sitting on the city council, but also through the various activities he is involved in within the community.
MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
The City of Hewitt is one of the fastest growing cities in McLennan County. For the past 3 years we have grown at around 8% a year. Our population estimate at this time is 15,500 residents, which the census showed we should achieve by 2020. As Mayor, I am a firm believer in the Safety of Our Citizens and our City Employees. This was evident this past year when Hewitt was named the Second Safest City to live in Texas. In 2014, the new Public Safety building opened and on April 14th we debuted the new City Hall and Hewitt Public Library.
