Hewitt Public Library

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer-led nonprofit group that supports the library’s mission through advocacy, volunteer service, and fundraising. While the library itself cannot fundraise, the Friends help fill gaps that allow the library to grow, innovate, and better serve the community.

The start of a new year often comes with big goals: learn a new skill, change careers, finally master something you’ve always been curious about. But learning doesn’t have to be overwhelming — or expensive — to be meaningful. In fact, some of the most effective learning experiences happen in small, steady moments. Fifteen minutes here. A short video there. Progress that fits into real life.

The Texas State Library & Archives Commission (TSLAC) has awarded the Hewitt Public Library funding from two of its available grant programs in SFY 2026. These exciting projects — the Texas Reads Grant and the Library Infrastructure Facility Improvement (LIFI) Grant—represent major investments in our city’s quality of life, literacy, and long-term digital access. Both of these grants will help push our vision forward to create more ways for people of all ages to thrive.
