Hewitt Municipal Court not held due to Primary Election - Early Voting

The Hewitt Municipal Court is the Judicial Branch of local government for the City of Hewitt. The court settles the lowest level violations filed by the police department, animal control, code enforcement, and fire marshal, which occur within the territorial limits of the City of Hewitt.

These violations may include, but are not limited to, traffic, city ordinance, juvenile, and parking violations.

The court also:

 ·   Processes citizen complaints
 ·   Presides over Bench and Jury Trial
 ·   Coordinates Pre-trials
 ·   Processes appeals
 ·   Processes warrants
 ·   Handles payments
 ·   Answers court-related questions from the public

Serving the public in an impartial and trustworthy manner is of the utmost importance to the court, therefore we are committed to fair, efficient, and prompt justice.

Court services are handled both onsite and online or by telephone, email, and mail.

The Hewitt Municipal Court is presided over by Judge Dan Francis and is staffed with Elvira Leyva as the Court Administrator.

Kathleen Dow performs the duties of Prosecuting Attorney on a part-time basis for the city. The court bailiffs are police officers assigned by the Hewitt Police Department.

Appearances, jury trials, and non-jury trials are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
