Assistant Chief T.Saunders has been at Hewitt 25 years and currently serves as Assistant Chief of Police. Asst. Chief Saunders graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Police Science; Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Police Administration and Sam Houston State University with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Management. He holds Master and Instructor certifications and has received the Academic Recognition Award from TCOLE. Asst. Chief Saunders is a graduate of the 49th Annual Management College hosted by the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration in Plano Texas. Asst. Chief Saunders is a member of the International Police Chief’s Association, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, Central Texas Association of Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs, the Texas Municipal Police Association and the McLennan County Criminal Investigators Association (Secretary 1996-1997, Vice President 1997-1998, and President 1998-1999). Asst. Chief Saunders currently serves on the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee with the Heart of Texas Council of Governments. He has been selected Officer of the Year for 1994, Supervisor of the Year (twice) for 1996 and 1998.
